Magna Wedding Show 6th September 2009

Soon the wedding fayre season will begin in earnest.

One of, if not the first of the season, is a Wedding Show South Yorkshire has been waiting for.

Lancashire has Gmax, North Yorkshire has the UK Wedding Show.

Now South Yorkshire has The Magna Wedding Show.

Tipped to be one of the largest Wedding fayres in the country, the show offers a great opportunity for brides to meet over 70 local wedding suppliers.

But theres going to be so much more going on.

Champagne reception

3 Fantastic catwalk shows are to run at various times of the day

and between this, the live stage at the opposite end of the hall will have a variety of bands, singers and musicians performing throughout the day.

There are some real surprises in store for you too. So I cant say too much, but...

I will say though that this is a wedding fayre you do not want to miss

Brides can get in the show for free so go and download your tickets here

General Comments

Keep up the wonderful work :) Thank you Caroline

Hi Richard,I like the I-do wedding magazine as there is so much to do and look at, and it is a great help for brides to be. It gives lots of advice and help which is what everyone needs! I haven’t downloaded any vouchers as I didn’t really know you could! The emails have been great informing me on events

The competitions are great and there are so many of them which is even better! The layout is great and simple and I don’t really think there is much you can improve on. One thing that would be nice is that it had a countdown to your wedding and you got a weekly email saying how many days you have left when you have signed up. I hope that helps! Thanks Aleks

HiOn answer to your questions I would like to say that I enjoyed the magazine and found it to be interesting and full of information. I have found myself going back and looking at it on numerous occasions. This pretty much covers what I think of the site as well. As yet I have not downloaded any vouchers as we have only booked the venue and will be making enquiries on other products over the coming months, although we will definitely be looking at some of the companies featured on your site that have vouchers available. The emails you have sent are appreciated as it may be that something comes up that is of interest that we would not know about otherwise. To be honest I think both the magazine and website are already of a good standard and look forward to seeing what changes you make, as they can only help in making life easier for us brides to be.Kind RegardsAngela

Dear Richard,
Thank you for your emails they have been very helpful, and I have really enjoyed reading your magazine, it has given me lots of ideas and helped out with local suppliers.
But I would like to be removed from your database as I got married in February and it just reminds me that I will never walk down the aisle again Boo..
Thanks Again
Rebecca

Hi I think the mag is great, I found some great tips n ideas. The website is good also. I have not downloaded any vouchers as I am not great on computers and am not confident in doing so. Your emails are good and a nice update, though some of the wedding fayres were too far away from me to attend, but I understand this is not your fault. There is nothing I can think of that I would advise to improve on!! Best wishesCaroline Clarkson

Hi Richard,The plans are going well and found the most fantastic photographer at Castleford through I do mag. Unfortunately I am holding the fort on my own at the moment as my fiancĂ© is in the army and is away on exercise in Canada for four months. Hope you are all not getting too stressed putting together the next I do and re-designing the website at the same time, it sounds nearly as stressful as organising the wedding haha. I love I do magazine, Anyway let’s get on with the job and get those questions answered.
I am keeping my fingers crossed for the prize draw I would love to feature in I do magazine. Put in a good word for me and if I don’t win I will hold you personally responsible. Haha. Thanks Erica.x

Hi RichardI find your emails extremely helpful, and have been to plenty of the wedding fayres you have suggested. Please do not send me less. I can’t say I have ever been onto your website. But do read the magazine. Thanks Jen

Hi Richard Sorry in the delay replying to your email, I have been away for a few days. The I do wedding magazine is good, it is simple, it does give you many ideas. The website is good as well, it’s easy to use.Yes I have downloaded some of the vouchers especially for the signature bride shop.Yes your emails have helped, I don't think there is anything that you need to improve there. I don't think there is anything that needs improvement, it’s all very simple and helpful to me. Hope this helps you.Kendall

I love the I-Do magazine website, I use loads and find it really useful, it’s easy to use. The only thing I think it lacks is guidance about possibilities about your big day i.e. samples of invite wording or different approaches to speeches.

Hi Richard.
When I arrived at a wedding fayre (Sitwell Arms) they ran out of Magazines so I have never actually received one, however I have found your emails very useful and your online site. It has up-to date information I require such as local wedding fayres & suppliers of which I have used for my forthcoming wedding. I have not downloaded any vouchers as most of my wedding has been booked for some time, however I am still wedding shopping & will certainly have a look at the vouchers on offer this month.Your emails have been very useful and I would like them to keep coming please.I can’t think of anything you could improve of (I would really like to see the magazine though)The prize draw sounds great, I would love our grand wedding to be published in your future issues. My wedding is 09 09 09 (A theme is their somewhere) :-) It will be my 29th Birthday on our special day, and my partner is a police officer hence the date (999) Our theme for our special day is PINK TIE & DIAMONDS. Dare I say no more, apart from a very lavish day from beginning to end with lots of surprises along the way for our guests to enjoy. Keep up the good work.Kind regardsPaula Dowd

with regards to the website, I would add a forum/message board as it will give people more reason to return to your site more often, if you have a good, full featured message board, you can basically create a community... you have to do a lot of posting yourself in the early stages and starting discussions yourself before other people take over, but get it right and your readership can grow.Have a twitter account and allow people to follow you... you can get your name and "sponsored" offers and messages in front of hundreds of people every day, I've picked up quite a few freelance jobs from twitter through people searching for people in my sector and liking what I do. It's a great marketing tool and it's free and easy to use!Allowing people to submit articles or writing some yourself would be useful as at present the site seems like a big advert, I know that’s what it should be, but you need to get a balance going, as more and more people are turning to the internet to get information and seeing regularly posted interesting articles will hopefully attract them back for a return visitHaving a review section and allowing people to write some reviews would be good, we're having some really bad problems with a Hen/Stag night company and it would be nice to be able to write a review and hopefully prevent anyone else going through the same heart ache that we are going throughI'll leave it there, sorry if I've exceeded the brief, thought it was worth mentioning though, you're doing a great job though!
RegardsNik J Gill

What do you think about our site

LOTS OF USEFUL LINKS AND INFO

I haven’t visited it, but now I know it exists I will give it a shot

I like how I can get ideas from other brides that don’t cost the roof!

Also very good, I regularly visit the site

Clear layout

Again I have found the website useful for ideas and the fact that all businesses listed are local is fantastic, on their websites businesses listed tend to be so far away, they are useless.

Easy to use and fantastic tips

The website is like a little wedding planner online! I’m getting married in North Yorkshire but live in West and at first I was struggling with some suppliers but since using this website I have found alternative suppliers to contact for their service areas. I also love how everything is sectioned so I can find what I need from the tab section at the top making it so easy to use

Very informative and easy to use

Good ideas for my wedding

It is ok

It's easy to use, you can locate the information you require easily (I like the tabs which enable you to just click on the subject you want to look at) If I needed to organise a hairdresser who does wedding hair, I know I can use the tabs and a list of contacts will guide the way

It’s easy to use full of useful info

AGAIN NEW IDEAS!

I haven't looked on your website - that seems to have passed me by. I'll have a look now though

Same again it’s really helpful and has a lot to offer

I like it, its pink for a start which wins with me. The tabs at the top of the screen are easy to read and the site is easy to navigate.

Easy to find what you are looking for

I find it simple and easy to use and it connects to the websites of the suppliers that interest me

Its great too, I like the way there is a section for each thing, so you can go straight to what you're looking for

Easy to use, well presented, lots of useful numbers and vouchers

The site is just as great again you can find all your local suppliers

I find the website really easy to use and the suppliers all seem fantastic. Very helpful!

Easy to work around

The site is attractive, easy to navigate and provides lots of useful links to sites I may need in the near future. I can window shop with this site at any time of day

I like the way it is split out by clear sections so I can find what I want with ease

It has lots of useful information

Very useful found my cake toper lady on it

The website is easy to use and always updated.

Lots of links and useful information

I like it, but to be honest I sometimes feel bombarded with all of the information available, so use it as a starting point, to get ideas, and follow up things we're interested in.

Very good choice of suppliers very easy to use

Not really used it as much as magazine

It is a really catchy site, really good for information, with just a click of a button. The colours are wicked and it has easy to read clips, and really good vouchers.

Easily Accessible

Help on different cake makers in my area etc and relevant wedding fairs

Ease to use, wealth of information

Really easy to use, simple, friendly and fun!

The website is brill, but would like more images of sample, i.e. dresses, flowers, cakes

Very elegant and stylish

I like the website, I find it easy to use and access which makes you use it more frequently.

Easy to use and very informative

Very colourful - packed full & full of information/advice services etc

The site contains a lot of information, looks a bit dated and some sections are lacking in content

Easy to use very helpful full of great ideas

Again, too many adverts and contact details, think you need more information about suppliers, photos and customer service reports and things. A brief about the company, the little things that actually make you want to buy from them.

It features a variety of helpful Wedding info

It was easy to navigate

Great ideas, helps me come up with things I'd not thought of

Ok

Could feature a wider range of suppliers, by which I mean more sourcesof contact for everything to do with weddings

It’s easy to use and ideal for finding local people/companies etc

The site is really good and is very easy to use and the sections are easy to find what you are looking for and has been a great source of guidance and help throughout our planning process. I have also recommended it to a few friends who have recently got engaged as a really helpful resource

I have not until this email looked at the web site! But I found the tool bar at the top easy to use

I like the links that help you go direct to bridal websites

Have my emails helped, would you like, more, less or the same?

YES, THE SAME

I think I would have found them useful, but have already got most stuff sorted, I'd have found it more useful at the beginning when looking at venues etc, as some of your e-mails have contained wedding fayres at venues I haven't heard of.
I love your emails as they have kept me up to date with weddings fairs in the region.

The same please

The same

Same amount and yes they are helpful

Emails for local wedding fairs were fantastic

More emails...great help

I love the emails! It’s a lovely excuse to browse the site and I like being kept up to date and told to download the vouchers! Hehe

Yes they reminded me of certain shows and dates.

Yes it was nice to know where & when the wedding fayres are in my area. Amount of emails are fine.

The same

I have found your e-mails to be useful, showing me a snap shot of wedding fairs or offers available & I can decide if I go. I feel as though your e-mails stop me from feeling as though I'm missing out on abargain or a day I will find useful (not sure where id' be without them to be honest)

Same

MORE PLEASE!!! OF UP AND COMING LOCAL WEDDING FARYES

Your emails are spot on in frequency and charm!

More

I don’t think you can win here, some people like lots of emails and some people don’t. I like getting me e mails. That way I can check out on the updates. But any more than one a month and I would probably think there is no point checking the site as much won’t change....I do love checking out the competitions tho.

Haven't noticed any emails?

They have reminded me to keep checking different things that I may not have thought of previously

The same please

I feel it’s nice to receive regular emails, gives it a personal touch and I always look at the vouchers. I feel it’s beneficial as we get to find out new shops that are opening etc.

The e-mails have been great and very informative. You haven’t bombarded me with them.

The emails are just about the right amount - not too many so that I feel bombarded but just enough to advise what is going on in the world of weddings - wedding fayres etc.

I don't think I have received that many - I get more from other wedding websites.

E-mails help - they add to the wedding anticipation and prompt ideas. Frequency is about right.

Yes they have helped and it’s fine how it is.

Emails are helpful; I save them all up for future reference

Yes visited some wedding fairs

Your emails have kept me updated with the latest trends - THANKS

Yes, helped find out about wedding fairs, new products etc

Yes I do read the e-mails. I think you send just the right amount, many more and I don't think I would bother reading them, they'd just turn into more junk mail

Helped a great deal as new when wedding fayres were on

It was nice to know when new vouchers were available and when the wedding fairs were on.

Yes the emails have been helpful very much I would more of the emails to help me improve my wedding

Yes - keep them coming!

Yes email sent helpful, consider the amount you sent fine

Yes they have been informative of local wedding fairs and have enabled me to keep prompting my other half about the need for getting moving with booking a venue if we want the date we have chosen

I have to be honest this is the 1st one I think I have seen?!

Yes, the emails have helped

The same amount of emails

The emails are really useful as they are great reminders of wedding fairs as well as given updated website information which gives you a nudge to check it out again.

Yes and yes.
Yes, the same amount of emails is fine.

This is the 1st email I've received from you.

Yes same please

They have helped a little, but as my wedding is not in Yorkshire there’s not much that I can use.

Very helpful, it reminds me to check the latest info

I don't mind receiving them. Some are useful some less so.

Yes

Yes although we found the vouchers not very useful as they were all for very pricey companies, as we are all on budget this year it would be nice to see smaller local wedding businesses to get involved

I think they are ok

E mails have been great, I would like more of the same. I have been so busy with juggling everyday life, as well as planning a wedding and the e mails have been a great reminder of what I need to do. I think it would be good to have a date line, so when couples first register with I DO and they give their wedding date, you could send them an email saying something like; it's now six months to your big day and its time you decided on the style of your cake and get some costings together, you could then link them to local suppliers on your web site & attach vouchers & information relevant to what they need to be looking at booking at that time?

Hi - I no longer need the emails but thanks for sending them anyway. I think they were sent regularly enough, without bombarding me.

Your emails have been great and really informative and helpful, there has been the right amount of them and they have been great and seem very personal

Emails have been great for pointing out wedding fairs that I didn't know about

The emails have helped me a lot especially the ones that have all info about wedding fairs in the future.

Is there anything at all we could improve on or you would like to see more of?

COMPETITIONS AND MORE UNUSUAL IDEAS

No

I don’t think there is anything that you could improve on however unless I have missed it it would be great to have a page on the website with weddings fairs on

Can't think of anything, keep doing as you are.

Yes I would like to see more competitions on your website and more info re marrying abroad and different wedding customs abroad

Keep the updates for wedding fairs going I’m sure all those planning weddings will appreciate those, also maybe including a forum online for people to ask questions, helping each other out as we all plan our weddings together or features about 'real life' weddings would be good?

Maybe more on colour themes for weddings and also groom wear

Hmm, what about a page where people can recommend suppliers? No I think it is a really good magazine

I like the featured weddings to see how people do things differently.

I know the idea is to get constructive criticism, but I can't think of anything that could be improved upon, I have been impressed and find the website & the magazine VERY useful, Thank you!!!!!

No happy with it, although would like to receive the magazine at home as I prefer magazines than internet when doing wedding stuff!

I THINK IT'S A FAB MAGAZINE! KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK!

I know in the recent magazine you included some bits and bobs on wedding hair but I'd have liked a bit more of this, I've really struggled to find ideas for wedding hair; even on the internet.

Yeah like I said I can’t get vouchers as I haven’t got a printer so it would be good if you sent out vouchers.

I would love to see some inspiration pages, I always love looking at pictures and it’s great to get ideas and inspiration from other peoples wedding and seeing images of what’s new on the market.

More of peoples own experiences.

Personally I was looking to keep costs as low as possible but as I expected it didn’t always work out that way. Perhaps a budget plan - I have made my own spreadsheet of financial commitments regarding the wedding but it would also be good to have a check list of everything that should be considered when planning a wedding as some of the little things get forgotten.

Not really, pretty happy with everything!

The only thing I can think of is I feel it would be useful to have a list of when and where the local wedding fayres are etc. Also I don’t know if it’s just me but I have only seen the one magazine and don’t know if you produce a monthly issue or not. I would have liked one.

I think the magazine is great as it is. The only suggestion I can think of is to provide ideas of ways to cut costs or advertise more bargain/second hand wedding shops. This may help others as well as me to plan a wedding during the credit crunch.

Would like to see more on the website for hen / stag dos as still no ideas on what to do! More competitions would be good too (not that I ever win)! Would be fantastic if the magazine came out more often as it has certainly been the one I have used the most. I had two copies so passed one to a colleague’s wife to be who couldn't thank me enough!

Free samples of make-up

Some DIY / craft ideas to help eke out the budget.

You could do reviews on the companies that are shown on your website

No

More real life brides

I like a bargain - some useful websites to get bargains

Can't think of anything!

No, I think it’s just right. I can't think of anything that is missing, and if there is something missing, it'll be something really extravagant that is un-necessary and we can't afford, so no more ideas please :)

Nothing springs to mind - keep up the good work!

It would actually be nice to have the magazine more often than yearly. For me it’s also nice to be nosy and look at more real life weddings. I also struggled finding unusual companies and things that are a little different such as choc bar favours with individual names and casino table / choc fountain/ children’s entertainer/ vintage bus/ singers to name a few-but those things are to my taste and I know that you can't cater for everybody. The prize draw sounds good but don't think it will be any good to me as my wedding is in 2 weeks time.

I do not think there is anything you can improve on but I would like to see more competitions.

Would like to see more from companies from Barnsley featured - there seems to be more companies from West Yorkshire advertised.

Not really think you have covered most things, maybe could include reviews on cake makers etc to ensure people make the right choice for their special day

Just more of the same really

Maybe something like wedding gift vouchers e.g. for household items/electrical appliances for people like me and my fiancé who are having to do everything at the same time.
More information on wedding fayres around Yorkshire

I am quite happy with the information that you send and wouldn't suggest anything different.

Can't personally think of anything as I think the website is very well designed.

Absolutely not! Keep up the good work!

More local to me

It would be nice to see more online retailers listed with vouchers that can be used online as well as in stock or over the phone.

I like what i see already

Competitions please

As we are all on budget this year it would be nice to see smaller local wedding businesses to get involved

No

I think it would be good to have a date line, so when couples first register with I DO and they give their wedding date, you could send them an email saying something like; it's now six months to your big day and its time you decided on the style of your cake and get some costings together, you could then link them to local suppliers on your web site & attach vouchers & information relevant to what they need to be looking at booking at that time? Also I have tried to enter a few of your competitions but each time I clicked to enter, it said my e mail address was already registered? Also more competitions would be good.

I don’t think anything....it’s a lovely magazine and you should carry on as you are.

As I said my only criticism is that you have not featured (to my knowledge) many gay weddings and it would have been nice to see what other people were doing. My partner and I are going for as traditional a day as possible so we have used the magazine and website because of this but it would be nice to have a bit more guidance in this field. I do hope my email doesn't sound to negative? I'm sorry if it comes across like this.Your prize draw sounds fabulous and we would love to be featured in your magazine it truly would be an honour if we were to win. Thanks for getting in touch.

I would like to see more feature wedding of local wedding. Also when companies advertise on the website it is nice to see example of their work/products.

Would like to see more about venues in this area it is really hard to try and find the ideal place to get married in and I would like a little more help finding somewhere in this area (that also accommodate couples where 1 of the participants has already been married.)
1. What did you think of I Do Wedding Magazine?

Here are your comments please add your own comments

REALLY INFORMATIVE AND EYE CATCHING

I have got some good ideas from your magazines and found the dress of my dreams through one of the advertisements in your magazines!

I love it it has given me lots of inspiration

Brilliant, very helpful and enjoyable to read

It is informative, but the background could be better
I enjoy reading the magazine and getting tips for my wedding day as well as seeing how other people got married and what they did

I really liked the magazine, I found some great ideas and found it really useful that shops/services shown in the magazine were for local businesses that I could actually access

Fantastic and informative

I have only received the one copy which I got from a wedding fair at Rogerthorpe Manor last year and it has been passed throughout various family members due to its useful information and ideas

Excellent

Very informative

It is very great helps a lot

I love it, I think it's really informative & relevant Huddersfield

I really like the magazine - wouldn't have known about it though if I hadn't been to a wedding fayre (Brooklands)

VERY INTERESTING, LOVE LOOKING AT ALL THE PICTURES AND GETTING NEW IDEAS!

I love your magazine; it's great to have a magazine that's relevant to the area I live in

Very helpful with ideas for my special day

Well obviously I love it. I think most brides are addicted to buying wedding magazines and I really am no different. What makes this one a must have for me is that it shows me all the stockists in my area. Ever heard the saying if it’s not from Yorkshire it’s (not exact words her) not very good...hahaha...it’s true with this mag.

It's interesting when planning a wedding

I found it to be really helpful but it took a lot of looking through to find certain things. For example my florist (who Ii happened upon by accident) was actually featured and I hadn’t found that part

It's great, really enjoy looking at

The magazine I have seen was well presented, had lots of useful information, contact numbers and ideas. (I especially liked the cover you did on Nicky and Daz Jones wedding, but I am biased as we are Nicky and Daz's friends)

I think it is great, it’s free not like wedding mags that cost anything from £5 onwards. It has all local information and suppliers again not like wedding mags in the shop. The last one I bought was from America and although you can get some nice ideas from them you don’t know where to get any of the products from.

Really enjoyed reading through the magazine. It has given me lots of ideas of how I want things to be on my big day and lots of useful contacts. It is really handy that everything is local, rather than all over the country like it is when I buy magazines from my newsagents - and best of all it is free! Weddings are expensive enough as it is!

Good ideas for wedding on a budget

I am impressed with your magazine. I am newly engaged (12th April) therefore I am only at the start of planning for our wedding in August 2010 and everything is very new and mega exciting. Your magazine and website have helped me to start to put together plans and think about our budget. An easy read with lots of ideas and I've enjoyed browsing with close friends

I have stuck to the website so far as I find bridal magazines expensive.

I think it is very informative

Only had it once at a wedding show but enjoyed reading it

I like the magazine but I do think that there is a lack of Scottish based things - Sorry!!

Good information, useful because it featured local people/businesses

I think it's great, we both do. A real help, especially when we first started looking and starting to plan our wedding, when we had no idea what we were doing. It was a fab starting point, and a great 'reference guide' to see if we've forgotten everything

Excellent, good local suppliers to choose from, all the other wedding magazines don't really cover local areas

Very useful for me, I found a copy at the end of last year when I was planning my wedding and I found my jeweller for my wedding rings, the style of bridal bouquet I wanted and a shop to get my mum's fascinator - not bad going for one magazine!

The magazine is really good and eye catching. It has everything you need to know about planning a wedding. It has really good stories and really good competitions.

Really like it - contains lots of inspirational wedding ideas

Great! Lots of good ideas

Really good, informative, realistic, full of local ideas for the wedding, a good read not full of expensive couture bridal gowns like some wedding magazines. It really appeals to a wide audience of brides to be and people involved with planning weddings.

I've only been online so far

I like the magazine as it has lots of local sources

The magazine is very good

I like I Do Wedding Magazine as it has great ideas and more importantly they are for local companies which is a great help when you looking for suppliers

Very helpful and extremely useful when locating suppliers locally

Very informative

It's a really well put together magazine, looks well designed and very informative

Great easy to use

I thought there were too many adverts and not enough information in the magazine

Really helpful

I've never seen the physical magazine just the website

Very good

Enjoyed it

I like it

Good magazine that features good articles and local services. I like the fact that the real weddings included in this magazine are all normal couples with normal jobs!

I thought the magazine was very useful and lots of good tips and local services...which is good, as some of the national magazines are more London based.

The Magazine is great and we have got it every time it has been available since we got engaged 14 months ago. It is informative and very helpful especially with theme ideas etc. The only downside I would say is, my partner and I are having a gay civil partnership in July and there is not a lot of information relating to this side of things. I know this may not be a very commercial thing to have in your magazine but there are a lot more gay "weddings" happening these days and not a lot of coverage of them to help people in our situation. The only magazine who has featured a "gay" wedding real life section that I know of was "The Scottish Wedding Directory - Real Life Weddings". I know this probably sounds really negative but it is something that does affect my partner and I directly and we would have liked to have seen more. The magazine as a whole is very informative and helpful in all other fields.

I like having a local wedding magazine and find it helpful when looking for ideas. It is also useful when researching and booking suppliers e.g. florist, photographers

I thought the magazine was a great help and helped me find information I was looking for
